If your looking at purchasing a used SVT, here is one easy way to verify if it's legit.
Check the eighth digit (engine code) in the VIN:

D	1993-1995 Cobra (+1993 'R')
C	1995 Cobra 'R'

Y	2003-2004 Cobra
R	1993-1995 Lightning
3	1999-2004 Lightning
G	1998-2000 Contour

S	2005-2006 Ford GT

If your missing the certificate (build number/date) you can get one from SVT.
Have your vin number handy and they can give you the info over the phone.
For a new copy, they will want a fax of some form or proof of ownership.
